Uploading Choral Music with Orchestral/Chamber Music Accompaniment

Modified on Tue, Aug 4 at 3:21 PM

If your composition includes a choir accompanied by a chamber ensemble, concert band, or orchestra, we recommend creating two separate uploads. This provides the best purchasing experience for directors and performers while ensuring all required materials are available.
Important: Each upload creates a single product, and all PDFs included in that upload become part of that product and will be included at the retail price you provide. Because of this, choral scores and accompaniment materials should be uploaded separately.
In addition, only one preview score is generated per upload, using the PDF provided in the Score Uploader (PDF) field. Cover images and audio previews are also assigned at the upload level, meaning each upload can only have one set of preview materials. Creating separate uploads ensures each product has the appropriate score preview, cover page, and audio preview.

Upload 1: Choral Score

Your first upload should contain only one component: the choral score.

The choral score should:

  • Include all vocal parts
  • Include the piano accompaniment
  • Be uploaded as a single score product for singers

This allows customers to purchase exactly as many choral score copies as they need and gives ensembles the flexibility to perform the work without the instrumental accompaniment when necessary.

In step 2 of the uploader (Product Info) , you will want to indicate that this is the choral score/octavo under Product Details:

Upload 2: Accompaniment Set

Your second upload should contain all accompaniment materials and be sold as a set.

This upload should include:

  • The full score (showing all vocal parts, piano accompaniment, and accompanying instrumental parts)
  • All individual instrumental parts required by the ensemble

In step 2 of the uploader (Product Info) , you will want to indicate that this is the full score/instrumental parts under Product Details:

Instrumental parts are the parts the accompanists read from and should contain only the music for their specific instrument.

This upload should be configured as a set, allowing customers to receive both the full score and all instrumental parts with the purchase of a single copy.

Pricing Recommendation

We recommend pricing this accompaniment set similarly to other instrumental sets for the corresponding ensemble type:

  • Orchestra
  • Concert Band
  • Chamber Ensemble

This helps align customer expectations with standard industry purchasing practices.

Grouping the Products Together

Once both uploads have been completed, you can request that they be grouped under a single title listing.

To do this:

  1. Open your self-service edit portal.
  2. Click "Need Something Else? Contact Support."
  3. Let us know that you would like the choral score and accompaniment set grouped together.

Grouping the products allows customers to easily find all available materials for the work from a single title page.

Note: If you prefer the products to function as completely separate listings, no grouping request is necessary.
